ʻUaʻu burrow camera: Incubation Phase

On Kauai, ʻuaʻu return to their burrows in June to lay their single egg. After the egg is laid, the male takes the first incubation shift for 16-19 days before handing over to the female. There are two more incubation shift hand-overs before the egg finally hatches in early August.
